We look forward to speaking with you about your project.
The Process
"The Process” begins with the Client first contacting HK&B to discuss their project. During this consultation you will discuss your project with one of our Professional Design Staff. We will help to educate you on the various products and styles that we offer. Also, you will be also be educated on the various type of cabinetry construction, all of the different species of wood available as well as the many different types of finish options that we have to offer. We can discuss the accessories available, to transform your cabinetry into state of the art storage systems. We will also discuss how to budget your project for the cabinetry, counters, appliances, installation and construction. At the end of the consultation we will schedule a second appointment with you to present a preliminary budget based on the information that we collected during this meeting.
The second meeting will occur at your residence / project site. You will be presented with budget pricing for the cabinetry and other items we discussed during your initial meeting with our designer. You will also be shown a proposed layout suggesting the optimal layout for your project. Upon conclusion of this meeting we will require a design fee, which is a percentage of the total projected cost of your project.
Upon receiving this fee we will then enter the design and planning stage of your project. This includes a second visit to your residence (if necessary) to measure and collect information on your residence, such as the style of your home, traffic patterns, and further discuss how you envision your completed space. This visit is usually about one to two hours in length. Before conclusion of the meeting we will schedule our next appointment to present the initial design.
At the next meeting you will see your project begin to take shape. After we have measured in detail and collected more information on your vision of your project, we sit down with State-of-the-Art design and engineering software and bring your project to life. You will be shown CAD plans of the layout for your space, as well as 3D color renderings depicting how your project will look. As we move through these meetings and make more selections on style and colors, all of the information is put into the design and we create Photo-Realistic 3D renderings detailing just how your project will look upon completion. These meetings are typically scheduled on a weekly basis and will continue until we have successfully interpreted your visions into a functioning design.
Once the design phase is complete you will be presented with a final contract for all work and materials to be supplied by Houston Kitchen and Bath. Upon a signed contract and deposit, we will place the order for the cabinetry, and the next phase of your project begins. During the design phase and once budget have been established we recommend that you begin interviewing remodeling contractors to handle the construction aspect of the project. Depending on where your residence is located this can include permitting and inspections, plumbing, electrical and HVAC contractors, as well as painters, tile and stone contractors, etc. We will coordinate our installation with the contractor of your choice. Once the house is ready for cabinets the cabinets will be delivered and installed, counters will be templated and fabricated and appliances will be delivered and installed. This process can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks, dependent upon the scope of work and detail of the project. Cabinetry lead times vary by manufacturer and the start date will be scheduled accordingly to minimize the time that you are without a functioning kitchen.
The final phase is the client/designer walk through. Although we will visit the site daily throughout your project, once the substantial work has been completed we will get together to walk through your project and confirm that all work has met both our satisfaction as well as yours. Any items that need to be addressed will be resolved and approved by both parties. Once we have both decided that your project is complete, our work is done and you will be able to enjoy your new space.
